The Foundation was donated the "Peat Rigg Training Centre" in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park near Pickering from the Tees Valley TEC in 2002. The centre is a beautiful 19th century farmhouse, set in 90 acres of farmland and has been converted into an amazing resource for the region. Peat Rigg provides exciting outdoor training adventures, particularly for young people from inner city and deprived areas in Tees Valley.
The Centre is run by Discovery Courses and offers many young people in Tees Valley a life changing experience. The classroom becomes the great outdoors and allows young people to gain personal confidence as well as learn about teamwork and the environment. The centre provides activities such as open canoeing, rafting, rock climbing, hill walking/mountaineering and abseiling. Peat Rigg allows young people in Tees Valley to enjoy this in a safe and friendly environment.
