The Evening Gazette Is Making A Difference

The Evening Gazette Making a Difference Fund aims to support the local community by awarding grants for the benefit of charitable groups and projects across the Tees Valley.

The fund raises money through staff fundraising activity as well as external events for distribution to some of the most needy charitable organisations and groups. The Gazette recognizes that a large number of community groups are working hard, often without public recognition to combat some of the area’s biggest social problems. They tackle issues that make a real difference to some of the most marginalised and vulnerable people in our communities.

The Evening Gazette is the voice of the local community and aims to put something back in order to strengthen links with its readers. The staff are encouraged, as part of their personal and career development with the company, to get involved with community and charitable projects. A team of Gazette employees recommend which charities and community projects should benefit from the grants. A Fresh and Fully Functional Bathroom

A Fresh and Fully Functional Bathroom

Thomas Wright, 16 from Hartlepool suffers from Cerebral Palsy. He has mild learning difficulties and his limb movements preclude him from a number of basic movements that most people take for granted. Before applying to TVCF, his house had a separate bathroom and toilet, which was not convenient for Thomas.

The Making A Difference Fund awarded a grant of £500 to Thomas’ parents who needed assistance in meeting the costs of converting their bathroom and toilet into one, larger room. This award has dramatically improved the quality of life for Thomas and his parents.
