A large number of
community groups are working hard and often without public recognition
to combat some our region’s biggest social problems. They
tackle issues, which make a real difference to some of the most
marginalised and vulnerable people in our communities.
Four local wards in Tees Valley rank in the top ten of England’s
poorest and fifty of our local wards rank in the top ten percent
of the most deprived in England. This highlights the vital role
of the Tees Valley Community Foundation in supporting local communities.
This year the Tees Valley Community Foundation has given grants
to groups tackling a wide diversity of social issues such as drug
abuse, disability, racism and prostitution, as well as fighting
diseases and providing much needed facilities for young children
and the elderly.
A large amount of money raised locally to support charitable causes
from business and individual’s leaves the area and that is
why the Community Foundation’s work is so important. The Foundation
ensures every penny distributed goes to grass roots projects in
Tees Valley, making a real difference to the local community. |
